Eastern Engineering Wood Products Offers Code-Compliant Joists

9/26/2016 by kamcony

New building codes are changing the way builders are constructing residential floor assemblies, and Kamco offers products from Eastern Engineered Wood Products that make compliance easy.

The 2015 IRC, adopted in New Jersey last year and expected to go into effect in New York later this year, includes provisions to enhance fire performance of floor systems, including requiring that floor assemblies be covered with drywall or be sprayed with a fire-resistant coating.

The StructurePro 1 1/2-inch 1.5E LVL Joists from EWP are a superior solution for residential floor spans than other options, such as a 2x10 lumber system or a 1 1/3-inch joist, and they conform to 2012 IRC R 501.3 and 2015 IRC 302.13 fire protection requirements.

EEWP also offers the TriForce open joist that addresses the placement of mechanicals. While some other products limit drilling options when installing mechanicals in accordance with energy codes, TriForce joists have an open-webbed construction so no holes must be drilled on-site and structural integrity is maintained and trimmable ends so joists can be fit to exact measurements.

EEWP prides itself on its quick turnaround, help with cost-effectiveness in design and construction issues, and the fact that with 35 acres of materials ready to deliver, they have the products you need when you need them.
